Sounds like your curl installation is borked. Perhaps you have older 
header files somewhere in your system which get used instead of the 
correct ones..?

I've also checked latests 

   HEAD/trunk: Same problem
   5.3 branch: Same problem
   5.2 branch: Problem not reproducable

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at
http://snaps.php.net/.
