It should be noted prominently that ob_flush() runs synchronous to the script and therefore offers no efficiency advantage over the implicit flush.

}


And compare to


//$buffering = ob_start();
echo "some very long string goes here";
if ($buffering) {
    ob_flush();
}

Actual result:
