This won't allow me to paste in a copy of the error message. Good Grief. Now I have to go back and try to remember the message text. How lame!

Which installer? From PHP5.2.6?
[2008-08-21 12:42 UTC] jperry at thepayrollpros dot com
php-5.2.6 win32 installer
 [2008-08-22 06:48 UTC] jani@php.net
I would suggest trying the latest snapshot, lot of fixes have been done since the release of 5.2.6:

http://snaps.php.net/win32/php5.2-win32-installer-200808060430.msi

the 5.2.7 installer referred to by the link produced the same error message.

Still the same bug in the new installer <http://www.php.net/get/php-5.2.7-win32-installer.msi/from/a/mirror>.

+1 for same issue in 5.2.7

Could you run it in verbose logging mode and attach the log file? To run in verbose logging mode issue the below command from the command prompt ( from the same directory where the install exists ):

msiexec /i php-5.2.9-2-Win32-VC6-x86 /l*v error.log
