running configure with parameter --with-mcrypt --> ok
running make --> failure
1. the installdirectory, where install mcrypt packet, was ignored(param.: --with-mcrypt=/usr/local/mcrypt)
2. php4 use mcrypt in it self(./ext/mcrypt)
3. the failuremessage --> 'MCRYPT_BLOWFISH_448' undeclared (first use in this function) and so on DES, 3DES, 3WAY...

setupspecification:
-apache 1.3.12
-php 4.0 rc2
-mcrypt 2.5.3
-mhash 0.7.0
-libmcrypt 2.4.4

configure line:
CFLAGS='-O2 -I/usr/local/httpd/openssl/0.9.5a/include' ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/httpd/php/4.0.rc2 --with-apache=/usr/src/apache_1.3.12 --with-mysql=/usr/lib/mysql --enable-sysvshm=yes --enable-sysvsem=yes --with-config-file-path=/etc/php --enable-track-vars=yes --enable-url-includes --without-gd --enable-bcmath --enable-calendar --enable-ftp --with-mcrypt=/usr/local/httpd/mcrypt/2.5.3 --with-mysql=/usr/lib/mysql --with-pgsql=/usr/lib/pgsql --with-openssl=/usr/local/httpd/openssl/0.9.5a --enable-inline-optimization --with-gnu-ld --with-mhash=/usr/local/httpd/mhash/0.7.0

Versions of PHP up to the current release (4.0.1pl2) only support version 2.7.7 of libmcrypt. Please try with that version. We are hoping support for later versions of libmcrypt will be in the forthcoming 4.0.2 release.
