While trying to compile I get this error :

/usr/bin/ld: cannot open -lmysqlclient: No such file or directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [libphp4.la] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/export/home/dot_base/php-4.0RC2'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Please read the Do's and Don'ts page.  This bug report has next to nothing to go on...

What's your configure line?  What's the last build command which ends up resulting in this error message?

Please submit a new bug report with all the relevant information you can supply.  You may want to try PHP 4.0.0 release, even though very little has changed between RC2 and the 4.0.0 release.

With the Final release I was able to compile it with no
special problems .
