Run example #1 on PHP 5.2.5 produces parse error.

Reproduce code:

class MyClass
{
    const constant = 'constant value';

    function showConstant() {
        echo  self::constant . "\n";
    }
}

echo MyClass::constant . "\n";

$classname = "MyClass";
echo $classname::constant . "\n";

$class = new MyClass();
$class->showConstant();

echo $class::constant."\n";
?>

Expected result:
----------------
outputs 'constant value'

Actual result:
--------------
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM, expecting ',' or ';' in /www/mydomain.com/httpdocs/class-constant-test.php on line 14

Examples requiring specific PHP versions should be commented as such.

Etienne: Please fix all the examples (if more) referring to this feature (and LSB).

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
