Apache crashes when using file(), or file_get_contents() or fopen() with a URL (allow_url_fopen enabled in php.ini, of course).

I got back to php 4.4.1 and the everything works fine

Reproduce code:
---------------
<?php

$file = file_get_contents('http://www.site.ltd/image.jpg');

echo strlen($file);

?>

Expected result:
----------------
The size of the file

Actual result:
--------------
Apache crashes (no error in error.log)

This bug has been fixed in CVS.

Snapshots of the sources are packaged every three hours; this change
will be in the next snapshot. You can grab the snapshot at
