The au.php.net mirror is always slow and routinely times out. I get timeouts or 20 second load times for extended periods on a regular basis.
Is there anything that can be done about this? I use au2.php.net for now, but unless the people operating au.php.net can improve it's reliability and speed, I would recommend taking it out of rotation.

After extended testing of this mirror along with other php mirrors, I have concluded that au.php.net is no worse on average when it comes to availability/reliability. Hopefully in time all the mirrors can be improved, but until then I don't see this as a specific issue with this mirror.
