I know it could be a scripting issue, but I'm getting the same bug while using PEAR's Var_Dump. I don't realy understand the issue - maybey It's not eaven abug but a feauture - but then it is not documented...

Never try to change $this. That is very bad software design in PHP 4 and hence no longer working in PHP 5.
