This is relevant to the version of bison more than OS etc.

During the make process:
bison -v -d ./functions/parsedate.y -o functions/parsedate.c
bison: extra arguments ignored after './functions/parsedate.y'

This works instead:
bison -v -d -o functions/parsedate.c ./functions/parsedate.y

Works for me with bison-1.25. Are you sure that you aren't using an older version?
