the following bug was introduced on php 4.3.5:

<?
$con = mssql_pconnect("host","user","pass");
?>

crash the php on shutdown (using apache 1.3.7 on windows).
mssql_connect() works fine.

i have no 4.3.X debug development available but here is the microsoft bug report:

Please disable third party extensions such as turckloader first.

Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing
bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same.
