I was not to sure on what type of bug this was so I placed it in other.. It may also fall under Compile Failure or Dynamic lodaing related, I guess that would be upto you.

The bug is this: the newest gd libraries do not suuport gif, they only support png.

This bug applied to me when I loaded apache with PHP4 as a DSO, I'm sure it applies to all other compilations of PHP4 where the system has the newest version of gd running.

The load failed to do unsupported call to gdImageCreateFromGif and gdImageGif.

To correct this problem, I had to change all lines in php4.0b2/ext/gd/gd.c and php4.0b2/ext/gd/php3_gd.h that had imagecreatefromgif and imagegif to imagecreatefrompng and imagepng.

After this was done and the module was recompiled, it loaded and functioned normaly.
