If I access the php script via http://somedomain.com:8080/ SOAP::Lite will try to access the remote SOAP server via port 8080. This may be because of a lack of definiton in the WSDL file, but shoudlnt it default to port 80 for HTTP?

I maybe misunderstanding you, but isn't this a problem of Perl's SOAP::Lite then?
