I've installed yesterday the 4.3.1 on two system:
first: NT4 SP6a & IIS
second: Win XP Pro SP1 & IIS

In both cases the PHP functions normally in ISAPI but not in CGI.

In the first case, i've have multiple instances of php.exe in my task manager and my browser (IE6) don't have result before I kill the php.exe.

In the second case, i've an error with php interpretor, so i've nothing in the browser.

I read that ISAPI is not as stable as cgi, so what can I do in order to use CGI ???

My config for extensions is:
extension=php_iisfunc.dll
extension=php_mssql.dll
extension=php_sockets.dll

others are off.

When I put in comment extension=php_iisfunc.dll, all work fine in CGI.

NB: We use php in order to use phpbb forum.

bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel
that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments

Lets make this bug clear, it's not a CGI problem, it's a iisfunc problem on shutdown.  The problem does not occure with ISAPI because it does not shutdown on every request like CGI.  I have reproduced it with 4.3.1.  Assigning this to Frank, author of iisfunc.

It is not clear if #22292 is in fact a dup of this bug, until we find out if kaf is using iisfunc or not.

I'm unable to reproduce this with the latest version of PHP (from CVS).

If php_iisfunc.dll is the problem you can most likely avoid loading the extension, unless you use it to manage your web sistes ?

iisfunc is in no way needed to run PHP scripts under IIS!

I've got the same problem. But i have all extensions disabled by default. What do you say for that ?

Ok. I've fixed the problem on my server by installing the latest STABLE version
BEFORE : 4.3.8.8 
AFTER : 4.3.9RC2-dev

or something like that.
