php docs on php.net

Win 98 SE

Opera
Version 6.04
Build 1135

The text in the left menu and text input boxes are so small they are unusable. Upgraded to 6.04 recently, so it may be an Opera issue

James promised to look into this subject. ;)
I don't have too much browsers to test...

Reclassified, this is a phpweb problem not a doc problem.

Well, it seems that code, pre, tt, and sidebar text is affected. Mozilla (and it seems Opera) interprets the % values relatively to the context where it is in, so as the normal font is set 85% and the code font is set 80%, codes are displayed 68% of the size (80% of the 85%) of the default font size, which is too small...

An interesting font test page for reference:

I have fixed the PHP.net sites, so the code examples are now big enough in Mozilla. I have no Opera to test though. The input boxes and the left menu are in this size intentionally. It is consistent on all sites (eg. search input box on bugs.php.net or pear.php.net). All the font sizes are set relatively to your default font size. You probably have an extremely high resoltion set, or an extremely small base font size set in your browser. Is this still a problem for your? Please provide feedback.

The site is fine in Mozilla (1.2.1) but was still a problem in Opera 6.04.

I found an Opera setting for the minimum font size (Preferences ->Fonts->Minimum font size) which sets a lower threshold for a display font. This was set to 6 point. I changed it to 9 point and that cured the problem.

It is now fine in Opera with this setting changed.
