 [2002-05-10 02:53 UTC] php at pateconsulting dot com
I have 2 files: index.html and user-auth.php. The index.html gathers the data and sends it to user-auth.php via a simple form using the get method.

index.html
----------------------------------------
<html>
<head>
<title>Login</title>
</head>
<body>
<form method="get" action="user-auth.php" name="login">
<table border="0" align="center">
<tr>
<td>Username:</td><td><input type="text" name="username"></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Password:</td><td><input type="password" name="password"></td>
</tr>
</table>
<p align="center"><input type="submit" name="btnsubmit" value="Login"></p>
</form>
</body>
</html>
----------------------------------------

user-auth.php
----------------------------------------
<?
echo "Usename: $username<br>Password: $password";
?>
------------------------------------

The variable values appear in the url:
http://192.168.1.73/user-auth.php?username=user&password=&btnsubmit=Login

However, nothing appears on the user-auth.php page even though the echo command should display them. When I do a View -> Source, all I see is "<br>".

Thanks,

In PHP 4.2.0, the 'register_globals' setting default changed to
be off. See http://www.php.net/release_4_2_0.php for more info.
