Following the PHP3.0.9 installations step by step,
when running make on PHP, it errors out when trying to compile functions/gdttf.c, complaining that the file freetype.h is not present.
I am running a stock RedHat 6 system, glibc 2.1, attempting to compile it with Apache 1.3.6.
I previously had PHP3.0.7 compiled and running on a Redhat 5.2 system, also with Apache 1.3.6, and that never had this problem.
I tried to download/install 3.0.8 to see if that would correct the problem, but the UK mirror server appears to have crashed.
I checked, and the 5.2 machine does not have a file called freetype.h anywhere...

Need to install freetype-devel RPM.

Fix for configure.in to not enable FreeType unless the header exists added.
