When I set the timeout value 10 and the target server was down, this function do not work well, . this funtion is lacked for 30~60 seconds.

Please tell me the solution of this problem.
Maybe It's will be my mistake...^^;

This bug has been fixed in CVS. You can grab a snapshot of the
CVS version at http://snaps.php.net/. In case this was a documentation 
problem, the fix will show up soon at http://www.php.net/manual/.
