I comiled php 4.06 with mysql 3.2.32 and Apache 1.3.20 without error using option 
.configure --with-apache=<src> \
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql

after I done for make install
i restart httpd and got not error

but nobody can access the web server and i check the error_log got the following

Try doing this instead:

./apachectl stop
./apachectl start

ie. do not restart Apache after updating it.

Please provide a gdb backtrace of the crash.
