When I try to connect to oracle 8.1.6 or 8.1.7 configured with NLS_LANG="BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE_BRAZIL.WE8ISO8859P1" I get the message "Warning: OCISessionBegin: Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03106 in /usr/local/apache/htdocs/teste3.php on line 3"

I can connect to another oracle server with default installation and the same versions of apache, linux, php and oracle.

I put the variables NLS_LANG and ORACLE_HOME into apache initialization script but it didn?t work.

I configured php wiht these options:

--with-apache=/usr/src/apache_1.3.19/
--with-mysql --with-oci8=$ORACLE_HOME
--enable-track-vars
--enable-sigchild

Thanks and sorry my poor english.

Check permissions on $ORACLE_HOME. Doing chmod -r 755 on $ORACLE_HOME solved this problem for us.
