Which server do you use? Is PHP in CGI or ISAPI mode?

So are you using CGI or ISAPI ?? 

Try <?php phpinfo();?> which shows the variables 
you can get.

When using ISAPI this won't work.

I reclassified this as documentation problem.
This should be mentioned in 'getenv' documentation?
