Doc Bug #46183 define-syslog-variables documentation unclear

Description:
------------
The documentation at http://php.net/manual/en/network.configuration.php#ini.define-syslog-variables is unclear about what this setting is for. As far as I can tell, it simply creates variables containing the constant values defined on http://uk.php.net/manual/en/network.constants.php (using the same names), and I can't see why you would need to do that (why not just use the constants?). Is this a backwards-compatibility issue, or is this function doing something else that I've misunderstood? It would be useful if it clarified exactly what variables are created, and why.

It might also be useful to add this to description of define_syslog_variables() as well.

(Note I added this as a note to the page, but it was rejected and it was suggested I report here instead. However the note is currently still there - feel free to delete it once issue fixed if it doesn't vanish automatically!)

define_syslog_variables() has been deprecated in 5.3 and removed in 6.0.0 as of today.

I will add a note on the define_syslog_variables function reference about which variables it defines.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation better.
