Description:
------------
bad grammar and a made-up word

Reproduce code:
---------------
http://us3.php.net/preg_replace

"If there are less keys in the replacement array than in the pattern array, the excedent patterns will be replaced by an empty string."

this sentence does not parse; proper english requires "fewer" instead of "less". also, i was unable to find a definition to the word(?) "excedent" in the Oxford American Dictionary. as such, i do not understand what the sentence means. what are "excedent patterns?"
