System is a Windows NT server running IIS and MS SQL 7.0.
Using the DLL version of the PHP server gives an "Access Violation" when using mssql_pconnect. mssql_connect is more stable but still occasionally reports the error as well. In most cases the MS Web server needs stopping/starting to correct the error.

Using the executable version of the PHP server produces no errors (i.e. change extensions to ".phx" and all is well and no crashes).

I have tried temporarily using MySQL instead and no errors are produced.

Does the problem persist with PHP 4.0.4pl1 or the latest snapshot from http://snaps.php.net/?

No feedback. If this happens with soon to be released PHP 4.0.5 too, reopen this bug report.
