ldap-query with curl produces error "No Memory"

Test script:
---------------
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "ldap://<some-ldap-host>:389");
$head = curl_exec($ch);
echo curl_error($ch);
curl_close($ch); 


Expected result:
----------------
When no problem the script should be done silently.

Actual result:
--------------
LDAP local: No Memory

Do you still get this error message with PHP 7.3.20?  It may have
been fixed in libcurl[1] in the meantime.
