http://php.net/manual/en/mysqlnd.overview.php claims that named pipes support for Windows was added in PHP version 5.3.4.

However, according to http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=48082, named pipes support will be added to 5.4.x only, which is the fact.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
