A user contributed note suggests that get_meta_tags() attempts HTML 4.01 conformity. As the w3 documentation is (to me) a little unclear on this issue so I'm not sure if it's expected behaviour or not.

Please try with latest CVS snapshot from http://snaps.php.net/ as this (IIRC) is fixed.
