I am unable to build PHP 4.3.1 with sybase support (--with-sybase). My configure follows: ./configure --with-apache=/Users/admin/Desktop/apache_1.3.27 --with-tiff-dir=/usr/local/lib --with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local/bin/cjpeg --enable-sockets --with-sybase=/Applications/Sybase/System/OCS-12_5

I downloaded Sybase OCS-12_5 from Sybase.com.

Here is the output from my build:

Installing PHP SAPI module
Installing shared extensions: /usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20020429/
Installing PEAR environment: /usr/local/lib/php/
dyld: /Users/admin/Desktop/php-4.3.1/sapi/cli/php can't open library: libsybdb.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
make[1]: *** [install-pear-installer] Error 60
make: *** [install-pear] Error 2

Note: Configure didn't report any errors.

Thanks,
Mills Staylor

Please try using this CVS snapshot:

  http://snaps.php.net/php4-STABLE-latest.tar.gz

For Windows:

  http://snaps.php.net/win32/php4-win32-STABLE-latest.zip

And don't use --with-sybase, use --with-sybase-ct instead.

I tried this but now it reported that the version 12.5* is incompatible with library version 8.0 during a make install.

Huh? What was the EXACT error?
