As you can see here (http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.types.string.php#language.types.string.syntax.heredoc), the "Example #1 Invalid example" is a totally valid use of HEREDOC syntax, and works as expected on PHP.

This example should be replaced with a really invalid example

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
