(while using net2ftp on fedora 7 to connect to a proftpd 1.3 server

$login_result =ftp_login($conn_id, $net2ftp_globals["username"], $net2ftp_password);

gives a response AUTH warning and $login_result is null

Reproduce code:

$username="user";
$password="password";

$ftp_server="ftp.example.com";

// set up a connection 
$conn_id = ftp_connect($ftp_server) ;

$login_result =ftp_login($conn_id, $username, $password);
?>


Expected result:
----------------
true

Actual result:
--------------
null

ftp_login() may return NULL only if the resource passed is no valid.
In all other cases it returns FALSE.
