I tried to compile php4.0.4pl1 on my virtual account at pair running on FreeBSD 2.2.7-STABLE as cgi.

When I try to use it (ie type ./php) I get the following error: Floating point exception

My config looks like this:
./configure --with-gd=no --with-mysql=/usr/local --with-config-file-path=/usr/home/steiger/phpini --enable-debug=no --enable-track-ars=yes --enable-force-cgi-redirect=yes --with-zlib

Compilation works fine, I did not get any errors.

When I install the previous release (403pl2) with the same configuration, everythig works fine
