I think php needs signal catching for it's parse errors/warnings and when a document for some reason doesn't load much similar to signal catching of segmentation fault errors in C. For professional applications written in PHP it would be much more "pleasent" for a person to recieve a simple error message and a email sent to the administrator when a parse error is recieved rather than seeing "PARSE ERROR AT LINE ...". Obviously parse errors in the signal catching code would be unavoidable, but it would still be a nice feature. Anyway, just a suggestion.

There was very long discussion on php-dev about that. The decision is that parse errors are preventable. Use php -l (as I use it every day) before uploading to the server.
