I'm using the latest libgd-1.8.3 from Debian but getting
this:

/bin/sh /usr/local/src/apache1/php-4.0.2/libtool --silent --mode=compile gcc  -I

gd.c:806: `gd_globals' undeclared (first use in this function)
gd.c:806: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once

gd.c: In function `php_if_imagepsfreefont':
...

This should be fixed in PHP4.0.3. 
If you still have this problem with it, please reopen this bug report.
