The files configuration-parser.c has the following #line directive:

   #line 1 /home/zeev/php4/php-4.0.0//configuration-parser.c

that cause the compilation to abort if the path is not found.
In order the compilation to work, it's necessary to remove
the following files:

   configuration-parser.c
   configuration-parser.h
   configuration-scanner.c
