Doc Bug #50236 echo and print docs refer to a spam page
Submitted: 2009-11-19 20:46 UTC Modified: 2009-11-19 20:50 UTC
From: brent at architechies dot com Assigned:
Status: Closed Package: Documentation problem
PHP Version: Irrelevant OS: N/A
Private report: No CVE-ID: None
[2009-11-19 20:46 UTC] brent at architechies dot com
Description:
------------
The manual pages for echo and print both refer to an external web page
for discussion of the differences between them. This page seems to have
been hijacked by a spammer and is being filled with irrelevant links; no
useful content is still on the page.

Reproduce code:
---------------
---
From manual page: function.echo#Notes
---

Expected result:
----------------
Click on the link and find useful information about the difference
between these functions.

Actual result:
--------------
Click on the link and get some slimy SEO guy trying to squeeze some
Google juice out of PHP.net's pagerank.

Thanks for the report. This is already fixed in SVN and will show up
soon (sometime tomorrow).

This was actually updated by myself a few days ago. When the
documentation rebuilds, it will reflect the changes.

Thanks for your report and keeping an eye out for the less-than-
desirables out there in the world, Brent. It's very much appreciated!
