Doc Bug #47706 XMLReader open() and xml() $options parameter description inaccurate
Submitted: 2009-03-18 17:00 UTC Modified: 2009-03-26 01:29 UTC

Private report: No CVE-ID: None
[2009-03-18 17:00 UTC] tobias382 at gmail dot com
Description:
------------
The third parameter $options for the XMLReader class methods open() and xml() inaccurately refers to "XMLReader Options constants."

Expected result:
----------------
E-mail exchanges between myself and Rob Richards on Wed 18-03-2009 confirmed that libxml constants (specific list below) are intended to be used for $options and that the XMLReader parser option constants are only intended to be used with the older and deprecated method setParserProperty().

http://php.net/manual/en/libxml.constants.php

LIBXML_NOENT
LIBXML_DTDLOAD
LIBXML_DTDATTR
LIBXML_DTDVALID
LIBXML_NOERROR
LIBXML_NOWARNING
LIBXML_NOBLANKS
LIBXML_XINCLUDE
LIBXML_NONET
LIBXML_NSCLEAN
LIBXML_NOCDATA
LIBXML_COMPACT

Actual result:
--------------
The only "XMLReader Options constants" specific to XMLReader are the parser option constants, which have values that are incremental rather than powers of 2 as is appropriate for bitmasking.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.

Thank you for the report, and for helping us make our documentation better.
