With the release of 5.2 the minimum oracle client requirements have changed from version 8 to version 10 (at least on windows). 

This is noted in the manual under the oci8 section, but could I suggest we also note this in the upgrading guide given that it is "For users upgrading from PHP 5.0 and PHP 5.1".

In one place you are writting about 5.2 and in other about 5.1. Which one is correct?

Sorry, the issue is from 5.2 onwards. 5.1 is fine with the oracle 8 client.

This bug has been fixed in the documentation's XML sources. Since the
online and downloadable versions of the documentation need some time
to get updated, we would like to ask you to be a bit patient.
