There is no place in PHP configure where we'd add '-llutil'
so this can't possibly be any bug in our part. It's most likely just your LD_LIBRARY_PATH that is missing some path.

Problem was with the OpenLDAP libraries.  I built a static version of an older version and linked PHP against that, the link step worked fine.  Apparently something in libldap.so or libber.so was causing the linker to chase a reference to liblutil.  Sorry for the 'noise'!

Still not PHP problem -> bogus.
