I get an segmentation fault (core dumped) when I execute php without apache, like this:

php < my_php_file.php >> output.txt

This has worked in version 4.0.6.
In 4.2.2 I get a fault.

Can you please give a sample script? I'm running the CGI version here, and get no crash with a test script on 2 different machines.

Also your configure line would help a bit.

Its not the script.
If I call just "php", I also get the fault.

It sounds like a configure problem. Please try to reconfigure, and rebuild your binary. It works. Honest.

Right. When I build 4.2.2 the Apache module was created, but not the CGI program.
