That isn't a fix, dammit.

The latest PHP should always compile, OUT OF THE BOX, with the latest Apache, OUT OF THE BOX.

well, apache 2.0.40 is the latest apache version, so why do you complain. also, there is no use in writing offending bugreports. If YOU want to make any effords in making PHP ALWAYS  running WITH THE LATEST ANYTHING, please apply for a cvs account or send patches to php-dev@lists.php.net ,
