Description:
------------
PHP 5.2.5 is crashing (segfault) when PHP programs call to curl 7.16.2. Upgrading to curl 7.17.1 fixes the problem, but this should not be a crash issue.

Reproduce code:
---------------
WP-openid (Wordpress OpenID plugin -- calls to curl)

Expected result:
----------------
Should give a PHP error message, not a segfault

Actual result:
--------------
bt using gdb:

Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
